We love to help in all areas, not just photography! That is why we decided to start the Wedding Wednesdays on the blog! Today, we decided to put together a blog post with tips and advice for our brides about things you might forget! When you are planning your wedding, there are a million things running through your mind and so it’s really easy to let some things fall through the cracks! Despite your best efforts to have everything under control during this important moment in your life, it can definitely be difficult to plan for all possible scenarios. With all that being said, here are 10 things brides tend to forget and some easy solutions to fix them so that you can have a stress-free day!
1. Sit when trying on your dress
Try to sit down in it so that you are aware of how hard it will be if your dress is tight. This is very important if you have a sit-down dinner! We have seen brides who have tried to sit down at dinner and who have a hard time because of how tight their dress was! It was actually hard for them to breath!
2. Eating
You and your groom will be busy the entire day, so don’t forget to eat!! Arrange breakfast and lunch for yourself and your wedding party! Also, bring along some snacks. The last thing you want is to feel lightheaded or faint when you are trying to enjoy your day! You want to feel good for the whole day!
3. Your accessories
A lot of the time the focus will be on your wedding dress and it is easy to forget to pack accessories. With that in mind, order all of your accessories early and create a packing list to make sure you don’t forget something!
4. Having someone to take things home for you after the reception
If you will be leaving your reception and heading to your honeymoon, you will need to find someone who can take your gifts, momentoes and any leftover cake/food home for you. Choose a person and let them know that it is their responsibility. If you are changing out of your gown you will also need someone to take it home for you. Make sure there is a hanger and garment bag on hand so that your gown stays in tip-top shape.
5. Making sure the bouquets are delivered to YOU.
This is definitely one that is easy to forget and if it does end up happening it will be fine. However, if you plan ahead to have your flowers delivered to where you are getting ready, you will be able to have all of the detail shots with your florals!! We love to shoot rings on flowers! Also, even if you’re not sharing a first look, we still need the bouquets for your bridesmaids portraits and the same goes for the boutonnieres.
6. Vendor Meals
We absolutely love our job, but when we work all day we can definitely run out of steam! Photographers and all of the other vendors that are working for you will love you forever if you give them a chance to grab something to eat at your reception. We always stuff our faces fast, just to get the necessary calories and then we get right back to work!
7. Your invitations
It is always easier if you mail your invitation suite to your photographer before the special day. If this isn’t possible, be sure to bring two sets of your invitation with you on your special day! Having two will allow us to photograph both sides of it (if there are designs/text on both). You can bring save-the-dates, custom napkins, programs, invitations, etc. We would love to get a picture of your invitation/invitation suite because it helps set the mood for your detail photos and tells the story of your day! If you haven’t mailed them, be sure to bring them with you to your getting ready room.
8. Heel Stoppers
Your heels are going to sink in the grass so you will need to get some heel stoppers! If you love the natural portraits in the field or under the gorgeous trees don’t forget! We recommend these….Solemates!
9. Having the rings with you.
Don’t give them to the best man yet! I am sure you have heard and read everywhere to give the rings to the best man! However, you need to hold onto them and bring them with you to the getting ready room! We always photograph the details first and after we are finished we can take them to the people they need to go to!
10. Having a pair of comfortable shoes
One thing you don’t want to forget is that you will be spending a lot of time on your feet on your wedding day! No doubt you will spend a good deal of time finding the perfect shoes for your day, however, it’s always a great idea to have a second pair of comfortable shoes.
