About a month ago we had our first session where the couple wanted some engagement photos with their dog! We love photos that incorporate your furbaby or furbabies! So we wanted to write up a blog post on some tips for preparing for a session with them! It doesn’t have to be a stressful situation! As most of our clients know we are very laid back and we try in every way to always decrease the amount of stress! These tips can apply to both brides(for your engagement session and wedding day) and for photographers!

8 TIPS for preparing a shoot with your pet(s)

1. Before you even begin shooting, be sure to get comfortable with the pet! Be sure to get some doggy or kitty kisses or to at least pet the animal! This way the animal is more comfortable with you!

2. Let the animal walk around first! By allowing them to walk around they get more comfortable with the location and it really helps if they have been traveling for a long time and cooped up in the car! So maybe begin the session with taking photos of just the couple and then incorporate the animal!

3. Be sure to bring some treats along with you! Especially if they have been trained to do things and then receive treats! This really helps when we are trying to get them to do particular things!

4. Have a person that can take care of the animal when it needs a break or when we are taking photos of just you!

5. Make sure you have a cute leash instead of a neon green one! We don’t want any distractions that will take away from the photo!
