If you have been wondering what gear we use or what bags we use then this is the post you want to read! 🙂 Below you will find the lenses, cameras and bags that we use! I will do another post later on about the flash equipment we have! We also have a third backup camera that we use that I didn’t take a photo of just in case both of our cameras decide to stop working! It’s always better to be safe than sorry! If you can’t afford any new equipment then I would suggest renting the equipment until you can afford to actually purchase it. Having the right gear on the wedding days especially is important! So here we go!
I absolutely LOVE this lens and I would highly recommend that if you are a wedding photographer…you NEED IT! We try our best to always stay back away from the alter as much as possible and this lens allows us to do that! The compression is also AMAZING and gives you beautiful bokeh! I also take it along on engagement sessions just for that reason!
To be honest, this isn’t one of my favorite lenses. However, there are photographers that absolutely love it! I am only using it until I can purchase the 24mm 1.4 and the 35mm 1.4 because it allows me to to go from a small range to a large range in a short amount of time. Allows for those wide shots you need if you can’t afford a wide range lens as well!
This is one of my favorite lenses!! I call it “THE HUNK” because I am in love with it! Prime lenses are the way to go if you truly love to shoot wide open! We use this lens a lot with engagements and also bride & groom portrait time. We do use it for other parts of the day but those two times are when it’s used the most. I have rented the 85mm 1.2 and compared images shot with it along with images shot with the 1.8. Personally, I couldn’t tell much difference. So for those of you looking for a lens that is affordable the 85 1.8 is great!
Another one of my favorite lenses and it’s also affordable! We use this a lot during sessions and weddings! I absolutely love that I can shoot wide open with it. It really helps in low lighting situations and is diverse in a lot of different situations!
Great lens for ring shots and for portraits as well! You really have to find your niche though with this lens when it comes to focusing on the ring shots. While some people have told me that manual focus was better, others told me that auto focus is better. Honestly, I think it really depends on YOU. For me, the auto focus is better and really allows me to get close and get those spectacular shots. The 100mm Macro 2.8 IS is supposedly a lot better when it comes to focusing, however I can’t tell you one way or another since I haven’t rented it yet and haven’t played around with it.
This was actually my main camera when I first started but now it’s a backup and Chad uses it when he shoots with me. It’s a full-frame sensor which I LOVE!
I have a love affair with my new camera! haha This thing is the best EVER! This is the main camera I shoot with! It’s so great in low light situations because it allows for much higher ISO’s. The focusing is so much better too! It has a 61 point focus system!!! AMAZING!! This really allows me to focus where I need to! I love the color that comes straight out of camera! I could keep going on and on but I will stop there! If you are looking for a full frame camera and you can afford the 5d mark III I highly recommend it! (at least rent it and try it out)
Chad’s camera bag from UNDFIND
This is a really great bag! I have used it as well and we have even taken it along on vacations! It has enough room for all of your memory cards, batteries, etc, while also allowing for a camera and two huge lenses(or several small ones)
This is my camera bag! Ok so you had to expect it would either be teal or purple right? 🙂 It’s from Epiphanie and I love it! It’s not too big, not too small and just the perfect size for me! It allows for several lenses and one or two cameras, not to mention it also has pockets for memory cards, batteries, etc. Don’t you just love the little camera accessory? It comes with the bag!
