Today is Feature Friday on the blog once again!!  We are excited to be spotlighting A King’s Lodge, a gorgeous wedding and event venue located in Sevierville, TN! As we have mentioned several times, choosing the perfect venue is one of the most worthwhile things that you need to do during the planning process! We had the honor of photographing Mikaylee and Ian’s special day in November of last year at A King’s Lodge. When we saw the views of the Smoky Mountains we absolutely fell in love!! Tell us a little bit about your business! How did you get started?

We moved to Wears Valley, TN with our 4 kids in 2015. Dallas, Texas had been home before that and then we finally decided to follow our dreams and take a huge leap of faith by moving our family to the Great Smoky Mountains. After about a year of living here, we ended up managing the ranch located across the street from the Lodge and an amazing opportunity was presented to us to purchase A Kings Lodge from the Retchin family.

What do you love most about what you do?

Honestly, our absolute favorite thing about what we do is seeing the smiling faces and hearing the laughter and fun being had by families and friends gathering at the Lodge. Providing a space for people to create life long memories and extending southern hospitality, has become our passion.

How many people does your venue accommodate?

Our venue currently can accommodate up to 100 guests. However, we do believe in flexibility and are always open to working out other arrangements for larger parties. Most of our weddings are from 50-100 people.

 

What makes your venue unique?

A Kings Lodge is a very unique venue for many reasons , but we think the most special thing about celebrating your special day here is that you can stay on property at the Lodge. Our elite package includes 3 nights at the Lodge which provides your wedding party with a large log cabin and very comfortable accommodations. With the expansive property and the ranch located right across the street, this definitely makes you feel like you are staying on your own private mini estate! And the best part is you don’t have to get everyone out by a certain time after the reception. There are so many benefits to staying on property!

What is your planning advice for couples?

My best planning advice would be, take a deep breath, slow down, enjoy the planning process, and remember the guests are there to celebrate you so don’t stress the small stuff!

What is your favorite spot at your venue?

Our favorite spot on property is right at the small dogwood tree located in the middle of the property. It stands there alone, strong, and beautiful. And if you turn and look at the mountains from there it is breathtaking!

What are some of your goals and dreams for 2019?

We have lots of goals and dreams for 2019…. we are constantly improving the Lodge and the property, we would love to add some beautiful furniture pieces (vintage) that could be used for outdoor weddings. And our biggest goal is to build a small log cabin honey moon suite down by the creek! We can’t wait for this and it will be such an amazing space for our brides and grooms to spend together.

Your venue is gorgeous! How did you come up with the name and style of your venue?

Our venues name actually comes from the King family who originally owned the farm that the Lodge sits on. A really cool thing about the home is that it was built in 1908 and was a white farmhouse! And the red barn buildings across the street were from the King’s dairy farm. We have loved learning about the history of the property and felt it was important to keep the King family name in our business. You can read more about the history on our website.
Our style is rustic, country. We love to bring the culture and feeling of the Great Smoky Mountains into our venue.

 

What should couples know before booking your venue?

A good thing to keep in mind before booking our venue is that we book out about a year in advance! Our property is also very popular for family vacations, reunions and other events and it’s a very unique property for this area. We are happy to hold dates for a short period for couples (for a very small, fully refundable deposit) as well while they get everything else in order. We like all of our couples to know that we are a down to earth, family run business and are always willing to work with you to help create the best day of your life.
